PrimeSurro Surrogacy Process
Submit Your Application
The first step in becoming a surrogate with PrimeSurro is to submit a preliminary application using our secure database. Soon after, you will be notified via email if your preliminary application has been accepted by PrimeSurro’s Admission Team.
Admissions Team Screening & Interview
Shortly after your preliminary application has been accepted, you will be asked to complete a more comprehensive application so we can get a better picture of who you are and your strengths as a surrogate 😊 Our Admissions Team will also reach out to you to assist you with your application materials. During this time, we will also schedule an informal video interview with you so we can get to know you better.
The Matching Process
When you become an available Surrogate with PrimeSurro, we will send your profile to Intended Parents who are seeking a Surrogate to carry their child. If there are Intended Parents who are interested in your profile, we will show you the IP's profile so you can decide if you'd like to meet them for a video chat. If you both decide to “Match” with each other after the video chat, you will move onto the screening process of your surrogacy journey.
The Screening Process
As soon as you are “Matched” with Intended Parents, you will complete the psychological evaluation and medical screening. The psychological evaluation is done over the phone with our Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). After this evaluation, you will have a medical screening at the IVF clinic that the Intended Parents have chosen to work with. The medical screening consists of a physical exam, blood work and other tests that the IVF doctor may order to ensure that your body is ready for surrogacy.
The Legal Process
Once you have received medical clearance, you’ll begin the legal portion of your surrogacy journey. The legal contract contains the details of your surrogacy agreement and is signed by both you and the Intended Parents once its terms are agreed upon by both parties. The Intended Parents’ attorney and your attorney collaborate to create a surrogacy agreement that is beneficial for everyone.
Medications & Monitoring
After the legal contract is signed and sent to the IVF clinic, you will be given a detailed calendar and the necessary medications to prepare for your upcoming embryo transfer. The medications are typically started 3 weeks before your scheduled embryo transfer at the IVF clinic and consist of oral medications and/or injections. It is vital to stick to your medication instructions to ensure a smooth transfer; failure to do so may result in jeopardizing the success of your transfer and/or surrogacy.
The Embryo Transfer
The embryo transfer is a very quick and relatively painless procedure where the IVF doctor uses a small catheter to insert the embryos into your uterus. For the transfer, you will need a companion to accompany you to the appointment. The Intended Parents may want to be present for the embryo transfer as well. If you are not local to California and need to travel to the IVF clinic for the embryo transfer, all travel arrangements and hotel accommodations for both you and your companion will be coordinated and paid for free of charge. Most IVF doctors require 1-5 days of bedrest immediately after your transfer procedure.
Post Transfer & Pregnancy
About 10-14 days following your embryo transfer, you will have a Beta blood test to measure the levels of hCG in your body to determine if you are pregnant. If you are pregnant, you will have your first ultrasound at around 4-5 weeks (post transfer) to confirm the presence of a fetal heartbeat 😊 You will continue to be monitored by your IVF clinic (or a local monitoring clinic) until you “graduate” from the IVF clinic at about 10 weeks post transfer. The remainder of your prenatal care during your PrimeSurro surrogacy will be with your preferred OB/GYN.
The Delivery & Post-Partum
The end of your surrogacy journey will culminate in the delivery of your surrogate baby. You’ll deliver at a local hospital that is covered under your surrogacy insurance policy. The parents of the baby will most likely be present for the birth. All the details of your birth plan are handled ahead of time, so everyone knows what to expect at the delivery. All our PrimeSurro surrogates will have a paid medical insurance plan (and a life insurance policy) that extends until you are 3 months post-partum.
